Ivone Cardoso Questions the Government About the Situation of Preschool Aides and Construction Projects at Schools in Brava
Nova Sintra, October 7, 2026 (Bravanews) - Ivone Cardoso, a representative of the Movement for Democracy (MpD) for the Brava electoral district, used her parliamentary address to raise a series of questions with the Minister of Education regarding preschool education, the employment situation of preschool teachers, and the completion of construction projects at educational facilities on the island.
In her remarks, Ivone Cardoso took the minister’s statement—that the government has made education an “absolute priority”—as a starting point to ask whether preschool will also be included among the Ministry of Education’s priorities.
The representative asked the government for specific information about the solution it intends to implement for preschool, also inquiring about the timeline and the manner in which the integration of preschool teachers will be carried out.
According to Ivone Cardoso, the issue is particularly important on Ilha Brava, where, she stated, there are teachers who play an essential role in caring for children but who continue to face job insecurity.
The lawmaker also highlighted the issue of wages, noting that, according to her remarks, these professionals face difficulties related to their inability to earn the minimum wage. Therefore, she asked the minister directly what concrete solution the Ministry plans to implement for these workers.
The MpD lawmaker also brought the situation at the Nossa Senhora do Monte Central School on Brava Island to Parliament’s attention. Ivone Cardoso asked the minister about the expected date for the school’s renovation, noting that, as she stated, a contract signed with three companies has been in place since the previous administration and that the first installment had already been disbursed.
Ivone Cardoso also questioned the government about the Sena Barcelos School, also located on Brava, noting that the facility had been designed by the previous ministry to serve as the headquarters of the School Delegation. The representative wanted to know when the two projects would be completed and made available to Brava’s educational community.
Ivone Cardoso’s remarks thus focused on two issues directly related to education in Brava: the employment status of preschool teachers and the implementation of investments in school infrastructure. The representative asked the government for concrete answers regarding solutions and timelines to address these concerns.
